What did you do before seminary?
I worked for my grandfather and his family business from the age 18 till just this year. I left my job of 12 years to discern if Jesus is calling me to the priesthood.
My favorite saint would have to be Saint John the Apostle. I first began to admire him for his faithfulness to Jesus and His mother. I thought to myself, I would like to be just like him and have that same fidelity to Jesus and His mother. I also really like his writings from his Gospel to Revelation. His writings are very poetic and help me to go deeper in my faith.
My first advice would be to really take time to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Talk with Jesus and ask Him to guide you in the path that He wants for you. And when you pray to take time to be quite and still and to listen to your heart. I find a lot of times that’s where Jesus does all the talking. I would also advise them to get a spiritual director to help discern what Jesus is trying to tell you. Last but not least talk with your vocation director. He can help give you information to help them make a good decision on what your calling in life may be.
To the Diocese of Fresno:I would first and foremost I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It is a true blessing to serve God and His people in any way that I can. If priesthood is what God has planned for me then it would be my honor to be at His and your service (God willing).
