is the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita, who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in Sudan and Italy. Once she was free, she spent her life helping others and sharing the Gospel message of love. On this day, parishes are encouraged to have a day of prayer for the victims and survivors of human trafficking in our world today. It is more prevalent than we realize, and affects people of all walks of life, cultures, and ages. Look to the USCCB’s page on Anti-Trafficking Program for ideas and resources.
