RE: Fortnight for Freedom Materials - June 21 - July 4, 2015
Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom to Bear Witness will take place this year from June 21 to July 4, 2015. To celebrate this event, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' staff has prepared materials for use in parishes. We encourage you to use this year's logo as you promote the Fortnight for Freedom. Materials are linked here in PDF form for your convenience, with other materials available at the offical website, www.Fortnight4Freedom.org.
This year's theme emphasizes the connection between religous freedom and bearing witness to the truth of the Gospel, for which so many martyrs for the faith have already sacrificed.
We anticipate that the U.S. Supreme Court will rule during the Fortnight, (around June 29), on four cases concerning the legal definitation of marriage in the United States.
Two special Masses will begin and end the Fortnight for Freedom. On June 21 at 10:45 am EDT, Archbishop Lori will celebrate Mass at the Baltimore Basilica. On July 4 at noon EDT, Cardinal Donald Wuerl will celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. EWTN will televise both Masses.
www.fortnight4freedom.org will be updated with new content, such as videos, over the coming weeks. Please continue to check this website on a regular basis. Thank you for your prayers and support to promote our 2015 Fortnight for freedom.
