I am Jorge Adrian Cruz and I belong to the Parish of Our lady of Victory in Fresno.
I want to be a Priest so I can bring the light of Christ to a world that lives in darkness and away from the truth. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI urged us to “Tell others about the truth that sets you free.” and I want to do that. I want to be a priest to help bring grace to humanity through the sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Confession and the Holy Eucharist.
What did you do before seminary?
Before seminary I was a music student and also a waiter at a restaurant in Clovis CA, that has helped me as a seminarian in many different ways.
Even though I’m a diocesan seminarian, I admire the virtues of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, he has inspired me to be a better seminarian and a better Christian, as well as to give myself completely to God in every way possible.
To the people discerning the priesthood and religious life I would say to them that the most important thing is to have a prayer life in which you become intimate friends of our Lord. Only then will you find the answers you are looking for if you want to really follow your vocation. Don’t give up even when you are discouraged those around you. Remember to also go to Our Lady who never leaves our side, and is one of our greatest intercessors.
To the Diocese of Fresno:
I want to ask the Church of the Diocese of Fresno to encourage vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Vocations come from families who have Christ as the center of their lives. Please keep praying for us seminarians, pray for your priests, and also for the vocations who are being nurtured in the homes of every Christian Family.
