Do you have a Marriage Preparation Program in your parish? Or would you like to see your Marriage Prep Program enriched? Family Life Ministry & the School of Ministry invite you to register for our new, professional Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program, Garden of Love
, which will train lay leaders to create a parish-based marriage preparation program for their own parish!
This Program will be offered in both Spanish and in English. Registration is open now and will continue through September 14, 2012. We encourage you to act soon, as parishes are limited in the number of participants who can attend these sessions.
As a “rule of thumb”, there can be one Spanish-speaking couple and one English-speaking couple per parish. Of course, the complexity of the parish situation will be taken into consideration. Also, parish applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Those interested in participating in this program need to speak with their pastor / administrator, who will make this decision with you. Application forms, as well as Diocesan Marriage Preparation Brochures, are available through the Office of Ministries.
The Application Form includes the following:
A letter of recommendation signed by the pastor / administrator
A contract signed by the candidate
$350 fee per student
Attendance at all sessions is expected

Working together at the diocesan, deanery and parish levels in collaboration on this Marriage Prep Program, we hope to form a “communion in mission”—evangelizing as well as being evangelized—specifically by proclaiming the Gospel with our lives, collaborating on this forty hour Marriage Preparation Process.
Our Saturday, November 17, 2012, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm bi-lingual Orientation Day will take place at the Diocesan level. We will join together at deanery / area sites to be formed, using thematic classes, video-conferencing and other kinds of sessions, where presentations will be given and skills practiced.
Spanish-speaking sessions will take place on Mondays, starting January 7, 2013. English-speaking sessions will take place Thursdays, starting January 10, 2013. At the parish level students will plan a practicum of marriage preparation geared to meet the specific needs of couples in their own parishes in the context of today’s reality.
Graduation will be held in deaneries/ areas where Bishop Ochoa will personally distribute the Marriage Preparation Program Certificates provided by the School of Ministry and Family Life Ministry.
Family Life Ministry and the School of Ministry are grateful for and support Catholic Engaged Encounter and parish-based Marriage Preparation Programs already in existence. We see an opportunity for them to be enriched by this Diocesan Program. But even more, we are aware of the great need there is in our Diocese of Fresno to offer this new Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program and to invite all to take advantage of this special time of grace.
