The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno

We place our trust in our Risen Lord

A statement from the Diocese of Fresno

The faith communities of the Diocese of Fresno stand in prayerful solidarity with the families of victims and survivors of the savage Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka. Our concern and support will continue for the people of Sri Lanka, in particular the Christian communities attacked during celebrations of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We place our trust in our Risen Lord to pour out his consoling love through global acts of kindness and support, as we pray that justice will prevail. May the protection of the dignity of human life be upheld as a guiding light as we mourn with our brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka.

Opposition Expressed to Extreme Late-term Abortion Law

The Catholic Church and the broader pro-life community of Central California expresses its complete opposition to and condemnation of the extreme, late-term abortion law passed in the State of New York and recently defeated in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

These proposals legalize abortion up to the point of birth, allow non-physicians to perform abortions, allow children who survive a late-term abortion to be deprived of life-sustaining treatment, and remove conscience protections from medical personnel who morally oppose such practices. Late-term abortions are never medically necessary, and like all forms of abortion, they are grave attacks on the dignity of the human person. (click title for full text of statement)
