The Catechetical Corner: Congress Volunteers 2022 (ENG/ESP)

To be a volunteer means many things to different people. It could be a way to build community, perhaps it's a rewarding experience that helps you feel more connected to God, for some, it can serve as a calling or as a foundation point to help the greater good.

Volunteering your time and talents does take effort, especially when you feel as if you don’t have any time to spare to begin with, but I have discovered that when you think about it and really compartmentalize what you spend time on throughout a day, a month, or even a whole year you find that you might have more time than you realized.

This coming October 7, 8, and 9 we will once again be blessed to be able to offer our Diocesan Congress again for the first time since before the pandemic. Click on the link for more information: Diocese of Fresno Congress and Youth Day 2022

The Diocesan Congress is an event and opportunity for formation and gathering for all the faithful across our Diocese and beyond. In the past, many have believed that it is only an event for catechists or ministry leaders but given the diverse topics and sessions that are offered, along with Holy Mass on behalf of our bishop, it is really an opportunity for gathering, formation, and worship for all who wish to attend.

But with any great event comes a great necessity, for helping hands, for VOLUNTEERS! I have been blessed once again this year in coordinating the volunteers that support the process of this event during its three-day span starting with a Friday which focuses on administrators within a parish, congress gathering which is on a Saturday and ending on Sunday with Youth Day. This is an event that cannot take place without the help and support of individuals that are willing to give of their time and talents in serving the people of our diocese in one of the biggest events that we offer.

If for some reason you can’t help as a volunteer, please share the need with others that you feel might be able to help. El Rincón Catequético: Voluntarios para el Congreso 2022

Ser voluntario significa muchas cosas para diferentes personas. Podría ser una forma de construir comunidad, tal vez sea una experiencia gratificante que te ayude a sentirte más conectado/a con Dios, para algunos, puede servir como un llamado o como un punto de base para ayudar al bien mayor.

Ofrecer tu tiempo y talentos como voluntario requiere esfuerzo, especialmente cuando sientes que no tienes tiempo libre para empezar, pero he descubierto que cuando lo piensas y realmente compartimentas lo que pasas tiempo a lo largo de un día, un mes o incluso un año entero, descubres que podrías tener más tiempo del que pensabas.

El Congreso Diocesano es un evento y una oportunidad de formación y convivencia para todos los fieles en toda nuestra Diócesis y más allá. En el pasado, muchos han creído que es solo un evento para catequistas o líderes ministeriales, pero dados los diversos temas y sesiones que se ofrecen, junto con la Santa Misa por medio de nuestro obispo, es realmente una oportunidad para reunirse, formarse y adorar para todos los que deseen asistir.

¡Pero con cualquier gran evento viene una gran necesidad para ayudar, para los VOLUNTARIOS! He sido bendecido una vez más este año en la coordinación de los voluntarios que apoyan el proceso de este evento durante su período de tres días, comenzando con un viernes que se centra en los administradores dentro de una parroquia, reunión del congreso que es un sábado y termina el domingo con el Día Juvenil. Este es un evento que no puede llevarse a cabo sin la ayuda y el apoyo de personas que estén dispuestas a dar de su tiempo y talentos para servir a la comunidad de nuestra diócesis en uno de los eventos más grandes que ofrecemos.

Si por alguna razón no puede ayudar como voluntario, comparta la necesidad con otras personas que sienta que podrían ayudar.
