I felt the call to become a priest after I did my First Holy Communion when I was seven years old. I began to serve at the altar and was moved in a particular way, by the way, the priest at my parish celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. I wanted to be like him when I grew up and began to play Mass at my house. As the years went by, the calling became stronger, and it got a lot more serious. Through prayer and discernment, I decided to say “yes” to the call of Jesus Christ and enter seminary. Why priesthood? Because I believe Christ is calling me to something greater and extraordinary. To use me as an instrument to save souls.
What did you do before seminary?
Before seminary, I lived at home. I was just seventeen years old and still in high school. During my free time I love to go out and ride BMX, drink coffee, and hang out with my family and friends. Two of my favorite saints are St. John Marie Vianney & St. Philomena.
If you are discerning if you have the call to the priesthood, I will give you this advice: go to Mass frequently, pray often, and stay close to our Blessed Mother. It is through Mass, prayer, and Our Blessed Mother that you will be able to hear the voice of Christ in your heart who speaks in the silence of our hearts and you will gain the strength to say “yes” to the call of the Lord.
To the Diocese of Fresno:
I am extremely thankful for Bishop Armando and the Diocese of Fresno for their prayers and support as I continue my discernment and journey towards the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Pax!
