Lent

Most Catholics see Lent as a month of fasting and penance and repentance and confession and sacrifice and helping the poor. However there is something else. What else? God’s presence and that very special moment that happens at the end of Lent. Listen to the prayer of Ash Wednesday, which happens to be the first day of Lent. “God our Father, strengthen us as we begin our observance of Lent. May our self-denial and our sacrifice on behalf of others protect us against all evil, bring us your forgiveness and prepare us to celebrate the Paschal Mystery.”
